Good affordable hosting. Lots of site space, and high bandwidth, Very little problems. If there was a problem, it was resolved promptly. I have been with them for 2 years, and will reommend them to anyone looking for quality, affordable hosting |

The GOOD part:

To be honest, SL has very cheap services and many options.
but it seems too much cheap:

that the customer service is very bad.
You open the live chat for help, and they do nothing, they always refer you to send email or submit a ticket which is another bad system.
if you send email, your ticket will ranked as low priority, and therefore, you will not get an answer in a week or even more.
i used both, in the ticket systems
one of my tickets got truncated. they did nothing about it only asking me to write again.
second time, my ticket which I wanted answer critically, got disappeared. and their answer for this ticket problem is to send email, which again ranked my ticket as low.
THEY DO NOT LISTEN CAREFULLY

I asked them to point another domain to specific folder. they made a forward of the domain to the main page. two weeks and this error did not fixed.
They do not read all of the ticket, I mistakenly chose option to transfer the domain, while I did not need transfer, because their transfer form is very confusing. then I noticed this error, and I added to the ticket, DO NOT transfer, and DO NOT charge. they did not read this only after they charge me, they refunded me. but what a bad, they do not read all of the request.
The Forum of SL:

I posted on their forums to help other users and also helping them to rank better. I spend efforts and time on many of the posts. and then I found out one of the moderators delete my posts!! because once he posted wrong information to the user and I corrected him... when I complained to SL forum staff, they just talked to the mod, and the mod sent me bad email advicing me simply crap advice. I forward it to SL and explained further. they did nothing about my compliance, as opposite, they trusted their mods who recieves free service from SL in exchange to moderating the forum, while they did not investigate my claim and they did not trust what I said, and I pay them!!
I m so much angry of this service. even though I left Yahoo to them, but Yahoo had great customer service, I never had these troubles with Yahoo.
FIxing errors is a headache:

At the beginning, after I signed up with them, suddenly they made upgrade WITHOUT PRIORT NOTICE, to mysql server. which caused all of databases to be corrupted and unaccessible. I contacted them for fix, and it took long while to fix!!! even I was forced to do the DB again.!! however, I had another error in which I cannot edit or delete a row in any table from phpMyAdmin, I got error in CSS or something like that. despite of my many emails. I got no solutions. in addition, they always request my username and psasword to solve the issue and the exact placec, they do not even make a tiny investigation without too much details. in addition, this request of password and username, makes you vulnerable to phishing emails.
HIDDEN STUGGLES WHEN YOU SIGN UP

before I signed up I read carefully to see what they require and what they want... after I saw all seems good, I signed up... my BAD, I waited for 24-48 hours, and nothing, I recieved then email saying that they cannot activate my account only after I send fax with photocopy of my card and id!!! then I had to search for fax, which is lots of trouble. finally I had to sign up for virtual fax to save me the trouble and the time.
UPTIME GUARANTEE:

Once I tried to enter my site, I couldn't, the server time out before I got my page. I chatted with them and they said they gonna fix it and it should work in 30 minutes. it took one hour nutil it worked.

weigh very well!!! what you get in exchange for their bad communications.

i am so tired of waiting and waiting. i bought a new domain name and ask them to point to it and it took them 2 months and until now still hasnt resolved.
everytime i go into the chatroom, it's empty, they probably see it's me again so they avoid me.
But what am i gonna do all i wanna do is point my new domain name to my hosting account and i don't think they understand that..im really so tired.
the service is really really very bad!
i hv another account wt ixwebhosting, and it's excellent, i wanted to install wordpress into my subdomain and they did it for me from inside.
But this startlogic, i wanna add domain name, i gotta submit my form several times and they stil hvnt get it done for me yet. |
